A/Prof Wong Hon Tym
Medical Director, National Healthcare Group Eye Institute
Senior Consultant, NHG Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH)

Clinical Associate Professor Wong Hon Tym is the Medical Director of Singapore's National Healthcare Group Eye Institute, and a Senior Consultant in the Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). In 2015, he was appointed Clinical Director of the upcoming Centre for Healthcare Innovation, where he will co-develop a thought leadership platform focused on healthcare workforce transformation. A/Prof Wong served as Head of the Department of Ophthalmology in TTSH from 2007 - 2016. During his tenure, the department doubled in strength to over 30 consultants, and achieved significant milestones in research, training and primary eye care. 

A/Prof Wong plays an active role in the training and education of junior ophthalmologists in Singapore and has garnered multiple Best Teacher Awards. He has been mentor to clinical fellows in glaucoma, and has been a course instructor at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Meeting, the World Glaucoma Congress and the European Glaucoma Society Congress. For his contributions to eye care, A/Prof Wong was bestowed a Distinguished Service Award at the Eye and Vision Health Awards in 2013, and then the National Healthcare Group Outstanding Citizenship Award in 2014.

A/Prof Vernon Yong
Senior Consultant and Head of Department,
NHG Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH)
Deputy Director, NHG Eye Institute

Clinical Associate Professor Yong chose to be a glaucoma specialist as he realized that the population was an ageing one and the numbers of glaucoma patients would steadily increase over the next decade or so. Involvement in population screening is Clinical Associate Professor Yong's other area of interest. Drawing on his long term leadership in clinic management at NHG Eye Institute @ TTSH, Clinical Associate Professor Yong has assumed the post of Head of the Department of Ophthalmology.

Dr Leonard Yip
Senior Consultant and Head of Glaucoma Service,
NHG Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH)

Dr Yip is currently a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and NHG Eye Institute. He is the Head of the Glaucoma Service, NHG Eye Institute. He also holds the appointment of Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

Aside from clinical practice, Dr Yip is active in clinical research and has published in numerous international ophthalmology journals. His research interests are in glaucoma, visual fields, optic nerve head and retinal nerve fibre layer imaging and minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).

Dr Lim Boon Ang
Senior Consultant, NHG Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH)

Dr Lim Boon Ang is currently a Senior Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She has more than 20 years of clinical experience in ophthalmology. Her area of research interests include dry eyes, myopia treatment and acupuncture. She is also a champion for patient's education and training of primary eye care professionals including opticians, optometrists, nurses and general practitioners. Dr Lim is the Chief Editor for a book entitled "Retinal photography interpretation for primary eye care practitioners". She is an advocate for Glaucoma Patients Support Group. She has given numerous talks in English and Mandarin both locally and overseas.

Dr Loon Seng Chee
Senior Consultant and Head of Glaucoma, Department of Ophthalmology,
National University Hospital (NUH)

Dr Loon Seng Chee specialises in performing laser and surgery for glaucoma, as well as complex cataract surgery. He also specialises in the epidemiology of eye diseases, using the research of eye disease in applying the latest technologies whilst ensuring safety and efficacy in treatment. 

He received his basic training in Singapore, with specialist degrees conferred from the National University of Singapore and Edinburgh. He underwent further fellowship and training in Sydney University, where he obtained a second Masters of Medicine (Merit) in Clinical Epidemiology. 

He is also keen in medical outreach, and has done medical mission work in Bangladesh, China, Indonesia and Nepal with like-minded friends and colleagues. In 2011, he was conferred the Humanity Award by President Nathan for his work in medical mission work.

A/Prof Shamira Perera
Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist in Glaucoma Service, Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC)

A/Prof Shamira Perera is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Glaucoma Service at SNEC. At SERI he is the Co-Head of Bioengineering and Devices, and most recently the deputy director of the Med Tech office for SingHealth. Together these roles allow him to pursue his interests in surgical devices, biomechanics and imaging. Supported by competitive research grants totalling over S$1.5M as PI, his core work has yielded 8 patents. A/Prof Perera has been an invited lecturer for over 90 conferences, written 5 book chapters and >110 peer reviewed publications.

A/Prof Syril K Dorairaj
Consultant, Department of Ophthalmology, Mayo Clinic

A/Prof Syril Dorairaj is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Consultant in Glaucoma and Cataract Surgery at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, USA. He is one of the pioneers in minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries and has done extensive research on understanding the biomechanical aspects of glaucoma especially angle closure. A graduate of Bangalore Medical College, India, A/Prof Dorairaj did his residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, New York and glaucoma fellowships at the New York Eye and Infirmary and University of California, San Diego. He has presented over 100 instructional courses and over 300 lectures worldwide and has been an invited speaker and chaired sessions at national and international conferences. He has co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts and over 50 book chapters and editorials. A/Prof Dorairaj is a recipient of achievement awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.

A/Prof Tina Wong
Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist, Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC)

A/Prof Tina Wong is Head and Senior Consultant in the Glaucoma Service at the Singapore National Eye Centre and Head of the Ocular Therapeutics and Drug Delivery Research Group at the Singapore Eye Research Institute. She is the Executive Director of the National Innovation Health Centre (NIHC), NMRC.

Her research interests include the application of sustained drug delivery platforms for ophthalmology, ocular inflammation and fibrosis, and the development of new anti-scarring therapeutics. A/Prof Wong has authored extensively in peer-reviewed publications in her research field. She licensed one of her patents on sustained drug delivery for glaucoma, to a spin-off company, Peregrine Ophthalmic, which she co-founded. This work was awarded the President's Science and Technology Award in 2014. 

She is involved in local and international education programmes, a scientific organizer of the World Glaucoma Congress 2017 and 2019 and an invited speaker at international meetings. A/Prof is a recipient of the National Clinician Scientist Award in 2010 and 2015, and recipient of the Distinguished Service Award at the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.

Asst Prof Chelvin Sng
Assistant Professor, National University of Singapore (NUS)
Consultant, National University Hospital (NUH)

Asst Prof Chelvin Sng is a Consultant at the National University Hospital in Singapore, Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore and Honorary Consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Asst Prof Sng is amongst the first surgeons in Asia to be accredited in the use of several novel micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) devices, and has been awarded a grant to study the outcomes of MIGS in Asian patients. Asst Prof Sng was also awarded the NMRC New Investigators Grant for her work on the "Novel Ocular Biometric Risk Factors in Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma". She is the co-investor of the "Paul Glaucoma Implant", which has attained CE mark and is currently undergoing commercialization. Asst Prof Sng has received international awards including the AAO Best Poster Prize, the ASCRS Best Paper of Session Prize, and the SSO-Zeiss Young Ophthalmologist Award.

Dr Owen Hee
Consultant, Tan Tock Seng Hospital

Dr Owen Hee is a Consultant with the Glaucoma Service, National Healthcare Group Eye Institute. 

He also has special interest in Cost-effectiveness and Health Economics having attended a Masters Program in Healthcare Financing, Policy and Planning at the London School of Economics and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2013 where he was awarded a Distinction in Health Economics. 

Dr Owen also serves at Ministry of Health, Economics, Policy and Planning Group as a Part-time Consultant and is on the Clinical Practice Improvement Project Faculty at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Prof Aung Tin
Executive Director,

Singapore National Eye Centre/Singapore Eye Research Institute

Prof Aung is a clinician scientist, with clinical practice focusing on glaucoma and research interests in angle closure glaucoma and glaucoma genetics. With >500 publications, Prof Aung has been awarded >US$20 million in competitive research grant funding. He has received numerous awards including the SingHealth Duke-NUS Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple Professorship in Ophthalmology in 2018, the Singapore Translational Research (STAR) Investigator Award in 2014, the Singapore National Medical Research Council-Clinician Scientist Awards in 2005 and 2008, the President's Science Award in 2009, the Nakajima (2007) and De Campo Awards (2013) from the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, the Alcon Research Institute Award in 2013 and the Robert Ritch Award for Excellence and Innovation in Glaucoma from the Glaucoma Foundation in 2017.
